"A Day on the Hill"

February 28, 2017

On Thursday, February 23rd, youth from around the state joined the Alliance of Coalitions for Change (AC4C) to discuss their concerns about youth marijuana use and substance use in Iowa. AC4C is a state-wide collaboration to effect positive change in substance abuse.  Students and adults came together to educate their legislators about the impact marijuana has on them, their peers and their community. Approximately 150 students and adults from many community coalitions, representing a mixture of Iowa’s rural and urban populations attended this event. Students and adults had an opportunity to speak with their representatives about substance abuse issues and share what they hear and see locally. Those attending from MFL MarMac were: Alex McNally, Marissa Reichard, Dylan Corlett, Abby Zeeh, Max Koeller, RoseMary McGeough, Mrs. Schellhorn and Mrs. McGeough. 5C is a county wide coalition who want to make a difference through initiatives and education to address substance abuse in Clayton County.  For more information on how the 5C Coalition can work with your community, visit their website at
