Daily COVID 19 Screening Information:
*These are subject to change and will be based on the most recent IDPH Guidelines.
We are asking parents/guardians (or childcare providers) to COVID 19 screen your child(ren) each day before they get on the bus or arrive at school, to include taking your child(ren)s temperature. Please use the screening questions below each school day to determine if it is safe and appropriate for your child to attend On-Site Learning or enter the school premises for any other reason (including athletic practices and events). If your child is exhibiting any of the symptoms, sick or even has the sniffles, they need to stay home. During these times, children who are unable to attend On-Site learning but are well enough to learn should participate in Continuous Learning from home.
Daily COVID 19 Screening Questions: (Based on most recent IDPH Guidelines).
If you or your child answered yes to any of the questions above, your child needs to stay home, and they should not come back to school until they are free of all symptoms without the aid of medication for at least 24 hours. During this time, they can participate in Continuous Learning if they are able, it is an excused absence. If a student has a temperature of 100.4 or greater or experiencing other COVID 19 symptoms, they need to be home for three days before coming back to school, and be fever-free, or test negative for COVID, and then stay home for 24 more hours. If a child tests positive, they need to be home for 10 days. If a child has been exposed to someone with COVID 19, they need to either stay away from school for 10 days or provide evidence of a negative COVID 19 test or doctor’s note.
We will COVID screen any child showing symptoms during the school day to include taking the child’s temperature if suspected of having a fever. As with face coverings, the DE and IDPH recommend that we do not take daily temperatures of all students, and we are following those recommendations at this time. One symptom within itself does not necessarily constitute COVID 19.
Students presenting COVID 19 symptoms at school will be moved to a second nurse’s office (The Care Room) designed especially for this purpose. They will stay there until a parent/guardian arrives.
